Custom AI Agents

PromptCue’s Custom AI Agents let you tailor your chat experience with personalized assistants—beyond our built-in Jordan and Scott. Design agents that understand your domain, follow your own instructions, and blend seamlessly into your workflow.

Why Custom Agents?​

  • Total control: Define exactly how your agent thinks and responds.
  • Domain expertise: Craft specialists for your unique projects—legal, marketing, finance, or hobbyist hobbies.
  • Consistent branding: Upload profile pictures and tailor personalities to match your team or product.
  • Feature flexibility: Enable image generation, voice commands, web search, or file attachments only when you need them.

Prerequisites​

  1. A PromptCue account with Custom Agents enabled.
  2. Basic familiarity with chat workflows and your own domain needs.

1️⃣ Add a Custom Agent​

  1. In the App Management sidebar, click AI Agents → Add Agent.
  2. Fill out the required fields:
    • Name: A unique, memorable agent name (e.g. “Lexi the Legal Expert”).
    • Description: A brief overview of the agent’s purpose.
    • Instructions: System-level guidance for the AI (tone, scope, do’s & don’ts).
    • Profile Picture URL: Paste a publicly accessible image URL (PNG/JPEG). PromptCue will validate that the URL returns a valid image before allowing you to save.
    • Specialty: One-word tagline (e.g. “Research”).
  3. (Optional) Configure advanced settings:
    • AI Models: Limit which back-end models the agent may use (default = all).
    • Image Generation: Enable text-to-image prompts.
    • Voice Commands: Turn on speech-to-text.
    • Web Search: Allow live web lookups.
    • Attachments: Enable file uploads (PDF, CSV, DOCX, etc.).
  4. Click Save Agent—your new agent appears in the sidebar.
Validation & Limits
  • Unique Name: Must not duplicate existing agents.
  • Character Limits:
    • Name ≤ 30 chars
    • Description ≤ 150 chars
    • Instructions ≤ 1 000 chars
  • Max Agents: You may create up to 10 custom agents per account.

2️⃣ Edit or Delete a Custom Agent​

  • Edit: Hover over your custom agent in the sidebar and click the ✏️ icon. Update fields and Save.
  • Delete: Click the 🗑️ icon and confirm.

    Built-in agents (Jordan, Scott) are not editable or removable.

3️⃣ Selecting and Using Agents​

Once created, switch between agents on any chat:

  1. Click the Agents dropdown at the top of the chat window.
  2. Select your custom agent by name.
  3. The agent’s avatar, specialty, and instructions immediately apply to your conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions​

Q: How many custom agents can I create?
A: Up to 10 per account. Default agents do not count against this limit.

Q: Can I edit the built-in agents?
A: No—you can only edit or delete custom agents you’ve created.

Q: What happens if I disable a feature (e.g., Web Search)?
A: The agent will ignore any prompt that tries to invoke that feature.

Q: Will my custom instructions be visible to users?
A: No—your instructions are internal prompts. Only the agent’s Description and Specialty appear in the UI.
